Cleaning Your Radio Strap and Case

Prepare to wash your Bunker Gear Radio Strap by detaching the radio case, the anti-sway straps, the cord keeper, and removing the trigger snaps. You may wash the trigger snaps with a mild liquid soap, then wipe them dry.

REGULAR WASHING

At Home:

Hand wash method: Make up a solution of laundry detergent and cold water. Hand wash, rinse thoroughly, hand ring, and air dry.

Home machine wash method: Put all components into a mesh laundry bag; Wash in cold water with a mild laundry detergent.

Note regarding household laundry detergents: Do Not Use detergents containing chlorine bleach or an oxygenated cleaner (Oxi-clean). We recommend using a detergent that is free of dyes and perfumes as these may react to the fabric causing discoloration.

At the Station:

Station extractor method: Put all components into a mesh laundry bag; Wash with station clothes, Wildland gear, hoods, and/ or liners.

DECONTAMINATION

At Home:

Make up a 3% to 5% Lysol or Odo-Ban solution using cold water. Let the radio strap and components soak for 15 minutes in the solution, then soak for 5 minutes in clean water. Rinse thoroughly, hand ring, and air dry.

At the Station:

We recommend using the same decontamination cleanser that you use on your Turn Outs, like Shield Solutions®. Put all components into a mesh laundry bag and wash it in your extractor with the rest of the gear needing decontamination.

DRYING

Air Dry all components, Hang items or use a drying rack in a ventilated area NOT in direct sunlight. Direct sunlight will discolor the fabric. Do Not Use Heat to Dry.
