Dear friends and customers, As 2023 comes to a close, we are announcing the discontinuation all bunker gear products. This year has been a challenging year for us. We lost a few family members, and a couple of dear friends. We experienced the “Big Quit”. Inflation made its biggest impact on us, affecting hardware, fabric, leather, and other goods we use to make products. And we lost our source for new bunker gear fabric. All these things have major effects on the business. So, we are shifting focus to our Leather Fire Bucket collection, custom Leather Helmet Fronts, and other leather items. You can expect to see new leather products, and the return of discontinued leather items on our website this spring, including leather notebooks, field notepads, and leather pliers cases. When our staff members chose to leave, we did not replace them. It’s always been difficult to find people who can operate industrial sewing machines, or who can work with leather, but it’s harder now more than ever. The fabric mill that supplied our new bunker gear fabric changed ownership and altered its policy on selling this specialty fabric. We have fabric in inventory to complete current orders, plus a little more. We have a limited number of Bunker Gear Radio Straps available on our website now. Other fabric items may be available in limited supply as we clear out our inventory. Please check the Shipping page for our current fulfillment times before placing an order. We will continue to make the webbing items, like the Fire Extinguisher Carry Strap and Glove Straps, for now. The Fire Hose Tool Pouch will be available as we receive more fire hoses from the supplier. We are grateful for your patience during this challenging time, and we are committed to providing you with a high-quality product that will last for many years. We depend upon people like you for our livelihood and appreciate your patience and patronage. We hope you and your loved ones have Happy Holidays and a prosperous 2024.

When it came time to choose the shape of the SCBA mask bag, we decide to keep it simple. A drawstring bag with a large opening seemed a good universal design. We chose to make the liner from 100% cotton flannel to help prevent scratching. This combination also makes it easy to wash. You can wash it by hand or throw it in your extractor with the rest of your gear. Then we added a grommet at the bottom to help with water drainage and ventilation. We had to add a trigger snap to the back for attaching to your gear, a hook in the truck or your gear locker. Once we made a couple of prototypes, there was one more thing to add – a strip of reflective trim across the front. Since we début our Bunker Gear SCBA Mask bag, we have only made one change – we made it bigger. It is large enough to hold the largest facemask with the voice amplifier attached.
We have made these bags for individual firefighters, fire departments, and fire equipment vendors. We have made thousands of them, and they are very durable. It seems the one problem we have is that the bags are so durable that we rarely get repeat buyers. Maybe we should have added an expiration date like the Turnout Gear manufacturers (hahaha).
